Madcap music and special effects helped these all-American hippies create a crazy blend of Pop Art and cartoon-ish musical lunacy that brightened up the late sixties. Featuring Mike Esposito on guitar, this was the Magoos' second album, released in March 1967. Informative sleeve notes and band interviews by Mike Stax, plus 11 bonus tracks - including single versions and rarities - complete this 'must-have' 60's limited digipak reissue. Repertoire. 2004.
This reissue of one of my old favorites blows me away. The sound quality is superb, the bonus tracks truly are a bonus (some haven't seen the light of day since originally issued), and the packaging is of a style and quality that can make you stop missing LP album covers. This is a first-rate job all the way and deserves 6 stars. If you enjoy the Blues Magoos, get this. It will make you very happy.Update Aug 30, 2011: I wrote this review for the reissue CD on Repertoire. Somehow it got transfered over to this new reissue on Sundazed. I have this version as well and it's sound is superior to the Repertoire release. It does not, however, have any extra tracks. I'm glad to have both versions.
