The Fitzwilliam MS is an important collection and Mr Hogwood has given us a good sampling. Played well from the period in which he gave harpsichord recitals and made recordings, before he was lured by the siren song of conducting and $$$ and fame. Too bad. The harpsichord, and the collection represented here, is private music, wonderfully conceived and deeply felt. A bit of music history from what used to be called "early music." Well, and so it is!
